    eine dampfbetriebene Seilzug-Anlage zur Beförderung der Güterwagen an den Piers. Die Waggon-Drehscheiben waren für Lok und Wagen zu klein.

  2. It is a steam plant for feeding the “Armstrong” system hydraulic cranes of the port of Genoa, as shown in the attached pdf article. The plant stood approximately at the height of the current “calata degli Zingari”, on the edge of the bundle of tracks on which the Aldo Moro elevated road currently passes, and is perfectly visible on page. 13 of the text in pdf.
    This type of plant was very common in Italian ports and a similar structure still exists in the port of Trieste. It was restored in 2011 and transformed into the “Museum of the Hydrodynamic Plant of the Old Port of Trieste”.
